Welcome to the site dedicated to the de Havilland Comet - not the better-known first passenger jet airliner, but the first bearer of the name, a race-winning sports aeroplane from the 1930s. Geoffrey de Havilland built the Comet in 1934 to enter the England-Australia air race for the MacRobertson Trophy, held to celebrate the centenary of the state of Victoria. Three of the aircraft entered the race and one, named Grosvenor House, won it. While this site doesn't claim to be the definitive Comet site, it's so far the only site on the net devoted to this remarkable aeroplane. Any more pictures or information on the DH88, or any of the other aircraft involved in the MacRobertson race, would be welcomed at comet@pjcomputing.flyer.co.uk. Our thanks to all those who have contributed material so far, both directly and by having their websites plundered for pictures and information. We have tried to provide credit and/or links wherever possible.
